The Scottish Hotels Awards, Scotland’s biggest dedicated hoteliers' event is the culmination of judgements made by a review panel of experienced industry judges who review the hotels and assess standards throughout. This year the Wedding Team based at Smiths Hotel and responsible for looking after couples marrying in Gretna Green received recognition as the Wedding Team of the Year 2009.
Alongside this award Smiths Hotel also received recognition as Wedding Hotel of the Year (intimate venue). This award was voted for by the public on HotelReview Scotland’s website. Couples voting were married within the ancient building of the World Famous Old Blacksmiths Shop or in Smiths Hotel where they also enjoyed their wedding reception.
