We'd like to introduce Duncan, our new Guest Relations Manager who joined our team in July! It's been a busy first month for Duncan....we caught up with him for a few minutes to see how his first month at Smiths Hotel has gone and what he's most looking forward to over the next wee while....
1. Tell us a bit about yourself - where did you join us from?
I recently returned to Scotland having spent several years living & working in Canada, during which time I worked exclusively with the Best Western chain. I hope that with my experience of North American hospitality coupled with my time spent in local independent properties I will be able to combine the best of both worlds.
2. What does your role as Guest Relations Manager cover?
My role covers the guest stay from check-in to check-out. Whether you need directions to a wedding venue, wish to discuss your experience or have simply forgotten your tie, I'm here to help!
3. What's been your biggest challenge so far?
So far the biggest challenge has been researching the rich history of Gretna Green! Almost everyone has questions about the legacy of Gretna Green, the tourist hot spots and the must-try local specialties.
4. What are you most excited about/looking forward to?
To meet all of the people reading this! I love being given the opportunity to talk to our customers face-to-face and listen to compliments and concerns alike.
