Quaichs
Quaichs from Scotland
Quaichs (pronounced quakes) comes from the Gaelic word cuach and has a rich heritage in Scotland - indeed, they are a uniquely Scottish invention, having no apparent connection to any other European drinking vessel.
Quaichs are traditional Scottish drinking vessels offered to visiting guests as a cup of welcome and also as a farewell drink, usually with a dram of whisky.
Traditionally Quaichs are filled with whisky and passed from person to person with the traditional toast Slanti Mhath (pronounced Slanjy va) meaning your very good health.
A populargift for a best man or thank you gifts at weddings, Quaichs can also be engraved.
