Not much is known about the origins of Kilt Pins but there is a rather interesting story about Queen Victoria when she visited Balmoral Castle on a particularly windy day. Apparently she noticed one soldier struggling to keep his kilt from blowing up and upon seeing this Queen Victoria took a broach from her own clothing and fastened it to the soldiers kilt!
