The new feature that will soon be part of the landscape surrounding the main attraction of the World Famous Blacksmiths Shop will be a permanent maze created from hedging and gabion. Entitled 'The Courtship Maze at Gretna Green' this new attraction will have two separate entrances for visitors.
The idea behind the Courtship Maze is to symbolise the separate journey each of us make before we meet our partner in life; independently we choose our own path, with our own challenges and decisions along the way. As we make that journey we may catch glimpses of each other, maybe a fleeting chance to touch - even kiss - but no opportunity to get together until reaching the goal: the centre of the Courtship Maze.
For children visiting, we hope they will see the Courtship Maze as a great journey of discovery and competition - can brother beat sister or daughter beat dad?
This unique feature is a maze with a difference and great fun for all ages. It has a fantastic, strong sense of place as part of Scotland's iconic gateway, Gretna Green.

Gretna Green and the World Famous Blacksmiths Shop attractions are only 2 minutes travel time from the main motorway route into Scotland (M74).
