With a farming family behind the World Famous Blacksmiths Shop attractions it is very fitting that native cattle breeds should be the first thing visitors see as they drive round to the car park.

For generations the Houston family have farmed the land surrounding the Gretna Green attractions and of course farming is integral to the role of the blacksmith as he provided essential tools to make the farmer's life easier.

Highland cattle, so synonymous with Scotland and Belted Galloways native to the lowlands of Scotland graze in the field adjacent to the World Famous Blacksmiths Shop. With such a stunning welcome it is no surprise that they are the most photographed cattle in Scotland, perhaps the world!
