With spacious clean toilets, baby changing facilities and a range of delicious takeaway or sit-in food on offer you'll never have to worry again about where to stop on M74/M6 motorway.
Gretna Green has the added advantage of not just being another motorway service station. This is a destination full of history with lots to see and do. You can even stop for longer at one of our three fabulous hotels including the 4-star Smiths Hotel at Gretna Green or 3* Greens at Gretna and the newly refurbished for 2018, Gretna Hall Historic Marriage House Hotel. Why not explore the nearby attractions in Dumfries & Galloway, or even cross the border in Carlisle along Hadrian's Wall and the Lake District.
When you reach the Famous Blacksmiths Shop attractions at the top of Gretna Green village, you immediately come upon the famous black and white building, which is the historic marriage house popular with eloping couples since 1754. Nowadays couples come from all over the world to marry, with all their guests in tow... if you're lucky you may catch a glimpse of a couple who have just been married and have thus joined the unbroken thread of Gretna Green history.
Enter by driving around the centre, passing the picturesque Sculpture Garden, which is surrounded by quaint shopping features and you will arrive at the car park, which is flanked by rolling fields.
Near to the car park, there is a children's play area and The Courtship Maze. The Maze is shaped like 2 interlocking wedding rings, continuing the romantic theme and entry is free. It's a perfect spot for children to let off steam after the journey or to stretch your legs and take the dog for a walk.
