Even though thousands of couples get married at Gretna Green we were made to feel special and unique. We tied the knot with a well conducted traditional hand fasting ceremony and then were married in a religious ceremony. The piper played The Sky boat Song and the Cock’ o’ North beautifully.

What a fantastic day we had from start to finish. Want to thank everyone involved that made our day so special. Thank you all!

We got married at The Famous Blacksmiths Shop, the staff were very helpful and professional.

We had our Wedding Breakfast at Gretna Hall and also stayed there, From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, all the staff were helpful, polite and willing to accommodate all requests.

We booked our vow renewal with you and the team made it a magical experience. The hotel and blacksmiths were fantastic venues, loved the Rose Suite. The staff at both venues was great, and it was the little things that meant so much. For example, my wife needs to drink a pint of liquid each morning ring and staff remembered to provide her with a pint glass on the second day. They even rushed over with a fresh ointment of organs juice when they thought hers looked the wrong colour (she mixes half organs juice and half water), now where else on our trip had this kind of service! Front of house staff were really helpful with printing off our vows and answering a plethora of questions. Staff at ceremony, including the photographer, were great and put us at ease. We had two new staff ‘shadowing’ our ceremony and they became my wife’s stand-in bridesmaids by holding her handbag and wrap – for which she was very grateful. Photographer was happy to take a few photos in our phones so that we could send the to family and friends later the same day. And he was flexible in being able to take photos of us with our classic car outside the famous blacksmiths building. It was a memorable and fantastic event for both of us. We highly recommend it to anyone!

Me and my partner eloped at the famous blacksmiths shop, we couldn’t have asked for a better day! From our photographer, witnesses, hotel staff, everyone was welcoming and made the big day the best experience possible!

This was a first wedding for my wife and I wanted it to be something special. We contacted Gretna and very quickly had a wedding date agreed. We were assisted with all the arrangements which helped our confidence that we had selected the correct place. to start the rest of our lives.. When the time came for us to travel up to Gretna Green we decided to go up a couple of days early to make sure everything would be just how we wanted it. Well it was a waste of time as everything was perfect so the second day we went to Carlisle Castle!

On the day before the wedding the Gretna army kicked into action and we were seen by all of the team that were responsible for all of the different parts of the wedding. What amazed us was the flexibility they all had in making sure our wedding was exactly what we wanted But you know what? we had a wedding that was better than we had ever dreamed it would be. Yes my wife and I are in love and we are just as much in love with Gretna Green.. We will be back.

The team made our wedding so simple and stress free I would recommend them to anyone getting married. Everything was sorted within a week or two, with packages to suit any size or style of wedding. The team were thoroughly professional and efficient and took care of everything, leaving us to enjoy our day.

We had the most amazing hand fasting ceremony it was outstanding from start to finish. All the people involved in this process were so lovely it was humbling. We stayed at the Gretna Hall Hotel and that was amazing too.

We attended a wedding at the Gretna Green Hall Hotel on the 22nd of December 2025, and it was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. The welcome and introduction were warm and professional, setting a perfect tone for the day. Everything ran to time with impressive organisation — every detail felt seamless.

The facilities were excellent, and the service throughout was brilliant. Staff were attentive and friendly, creating a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere for everyone. It was a truly memorable occasion in a beautiful setting — we couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

The staff could honestly not do enough for us. We were supported right from booking and all the way through the service. There was a lady on her hands and knees straightening out my dress for photos!!! We really did have a beautiful day and I cannot thank the team enough!

Amazing day made special by all the staff. Easy to plan and very helpful wedding planners. Registrar and photographer both made us feel relaxed and special. All in all the day was perfect.

The customer focus by everyone is second to none. Everyone involved was friendly and couldn’t have been more focused on us. meals were first rate and accommodation at Smiths you cant fault (Thistle Room). If you’re thinking about Gretna as a venue we 100% recommend the whole experience to you.

We had an absolutely amazing weekend and wedding. Booking the package was so easy and without fail everyone was helpful and professional. Vicky in particular was so helpful listening and then giving fantastic advice. The hotel was lovely. The Rose Bridal Suite was very big and so comfortable and nicely decorated. The wedding venue was perfect too for the 4 of us. The food was great too. The ceremony itself was lovely, so different. I would definitely recommend Marita the Minister and Chloe for photography. We had an amazing time with memories we will treasure forever. Can’t recommend this venue enough.

We had a blessing and handfasting ceremony for our 31st wedding anniversary. It was really special and thoughtful. Everything was well organised, and the staff made it relaxed and were incredibly kind. There was no sense of hurry, nothing was too much trouble for them. We stayed at Gretna Hall with a package, which made it even more special as well.

We had the penthouse suit and got married on the balcony. It was amazing from start to finish. Staff could have not been any more helpful. Lovely experience. Would highly recommend for anyone who what’s something personal and special. Food was perfect. We would do it all again.

These people were absolutely amazing, from start to finish. Professional yes, corporate absolutely not. We couldn’t Have Been cared for or cared about by own family any better. Mark our minister courteous and polite, knowledgeable but most of all the nicest man you could ever wish to meet. We were made to feel extra special, nothing was to much trouble. We’ve read about The Blacksmiths Shop and it’s years and years of history, we’ve now become a part of that history. An extra special place run by extra special people, thank you so much for a perfect day.

A lovely place, full of character and history, and very nicely laid out. It was the perfect setting for an intimate, religious service, which was exactly what we wanted. The staff were pleasant, helpful, and knowledgeable. The only hiccup was our minister not turning up, which was disappointing, but another was found. Overall, it was a rather nice day.

From making our enquiry on the phone to booking, to then coming for our wedding, to then getting married – everything was unbelievably excellent. Gretna Green is truly magical and every single person is so helpful and amazing! Our wedding was superb and we will never ever forget it!

An absolutely amazing wedding at an amazing venue in Gretna Green. Penthouse wedding was amazing and unforgettable. Recommend the lovely Horse and carriage to top off incredible day. Restaurant food was fabulous and drink prices so reasonable compared to London prices! From the first telephone call we were treated with total professionalism. The planner explained everything in detail and ensured we understood the full format. We were kept informed regularly on the lead up. On the day we were contacted by phone and text as we were on our way and given a run down on what would happen on check in. We were met shortly after we arrived by a wedding planner who ran through our stay at the hotel and the ceremony details.

The day itself went totally to plan and was well coordinated. Throughout our stay everyone treated us extremely well and we were made to feel very special even though thee was at least 10 other weddings happening over the 2 days. Highly recommended.

Had a Great day loved every minute and would like to thank Elsa and Maria for their help and assistance they were both outstanding. We would highly recommend our wedding minister Marita Jamison-Barr who made the day even more magical. The accommodation and food particularly the breakfast was also outstanding. Everything went smoothly and all staff were polite and diligent and we and our wedding guests were well looked after throughout the whole stay. The DJ played all the music we requested and the photography went out of his way to involve my grandson who has problems with crowds as of managed to encourage him to have some pictures taken which was a special moment. Perfect venue for a perfect wedding thank you to all who looked after us.

Exceeded our expectations by far!! Right from our arrival the staff were amazing and absolutely nothing was too much bother throughout our 2 day stay-we were made to feel special. The hotel, grounds, rooms, dining area, food were all top class. Being ‘piped’ into and out of the ceremony and the ‘handfasting’ all added to our memorable wedding day. Jill our wedding coordinator/supervisor was simply brilliant, putting us at ease and was supremely professional. Julie and I could not praise her enough.

We had the best time and loved every moment! Everyone was so helpful and accommodating! Although there are a lot of weddings everyday at Gretna Green, it didn’t make ours feel any less special! We wanted to have some motorbikes alongside the horse and carriage which was never going to be easy but everyone worked together to make sure we could do this safely and not upset the horses. We booked the Platinum Package and I’m so glad we did it the way we did, I felt so relaxed the whole time I was there and didn’t feel rushed at all on our wedding day. I love all the history at Gretna and always felt drawn to it, I wouldn’t have changed one single thing about our day, it was tailor made and intimate to suit us and we cannot thank every one of the staff and suppliers enough! We will definitely be back for our anniversary!

From arriving in Tartan Carriages the staff could not have been anymore helpful. The train on my dress was quite vast and the lady (sorry your name escapes me) couldn’t have been more attentive she made sure all my photos the train was perfectly set out. The sun was shining the horses very well behaved, piper & drummer excellent and played my request of Mull of Kintyre (meaningful to me).
Graeme Murray made us feel we had known him years and the service was just as we required. To say it was the best day of our lives is an understatement it was magical.

From start to finish, the whole process was easy and stress free. Every member of staff was happy to help and we had the best time. Can’t wait to come back and celebrate anniversaries! We loved the suite and were glad we stayed an extra day. Food was amazing and great bar service. We have the best memories of our wonderful day.

We had a double wedding, sisters and their grooms and our children. The coach house was beautiful, private and so much character. Our minister Marita and photographer Chloe were amazing, they made the day, bouncing off each other and us! The laughs from us all on the photos speak volumes! Phoebe and Lyn were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble, it was stress free. Everyone went above and beyond to ensure our day was amazing. We would do it all again in a heartbeat ❤️

Was everything I could have imagined. From start to finish it was perfect. Made to feel relaxed and Keeley was amazing sorting out the music and walking us through. The Registrar, Stewart, was just the best. Even had our kind of humour which was fab. Kate our photographer caught some real magical photos, totally unaware some of them being taken. Would recommend the whole experience to anyone getting married.

From start to finish our correspondence & interaction with everyone at Gretna was first class. From the moment we arrived Amber was there to look after us & guide us through our 2 days & she was so helpful, friendly & bubbly.

The day itself was perfect & nothing was too much trouble. Due to there not being anywhere to sit in the lounge after our ceremony, we asked if we could go to our reception room & have our meal earlier and this was accommodated with no fuss at all by Amber.

The accommodation was lovely & the food for both our pre-wedding meal the evening before, our wedding meal & breakfasts were first class, all our guests were very impressed.

The lounge could do with being larger as it is a bit small for the amount of guests at various times, especially if there is a large party.

We would recommend Gretna Green to anyone for a wedding.

We stayed at Gretna Hall, there are no words available for me to say anything negative about our whole experience, there was a minor mix up with a meal the day before, but the staff were so apologetic and catered for all our needs once this with brought to their attention.

The day of the wedding was lovely, the staff at Gretna Hall were great and I have to give a massive shout out to Marita Jamieson-Barr and Chloe Grierson, the pair of them were so professional yet so relaxed in what they do, they added to the day in such a positive way and we thank them both. Overall I’d recommend this company and location to anyone wishing to get married.

Matthew and I got married in the famous black smiths room and stayed at the Smiths hotel. The staff were all welcoming, very friendly and always happy to help when needed. Our wedding day was perfect and ran smoothly. We had an afternoon tea and cocktails on arrival, the food was delicious and the cocktails packed a punch! We then had a 3 course meal after our wedding, where again the food and drinks provided where amazing! We spent time in the museum and gift shop where the staff took the time to speak with us and ask about the ceremony and congratulate us. We were always met with a smile from all involved. We chose to have 2 members of staff as our witness’s and they were a delight to have in the room with us and seemed just as excited as we were, which was a lovely feeling, we felt so welcomed.
In the run up to the big day we always had quick responses to any emails sent, and a phone call the day before reassured us everything was taken care of. The day was perfect for us and just what we wanted.

We did the Platinum package for our wedding and we could not have had a better experience! From the moment we arrived at Smiths Hotel we were looked after very well. Communication was great at every point before, during and after our wedding. All the food we had at smiths during our stay was amazing. And the rose suite which we stayed in was fab. It was just the two of us and the Gretna admin staff had made organising the day very easy. On the day we were guided through the wedding very professionally but in a very friendly way. Special shout out to Keeley who did the handfasting and music and also to the photographer Bill who was good fun and didn’t make the photography a chore. We had a wonderful time.

We got married at the Famous Blacksmith’s Workshop with Danielle (Staff), another witness and the Registrar. They were very welcoming and friendly, we felt really looked after. I can’t recommend this enough. We did the hand fasting ceremony and had a basic service but it was ideal for us.

We would like to say the stay at Gretna hall hotel was amazing all the staff were brilliant, the food was fantastic and the atmosphere was great I would highly recommend to anyone who is interested. We married in the old blacksmiths shop and the whole experience was just amazing from the start to finish.

Excellent service from the start, no question too small and answers for all. The actual service was very happy and pleasant, we were put at ease right from the start and staff were lovely making the whole day memorable and a wonderful day, just as it should be.

We fell in love with the wooden gazebo set on the gardens at Gretna Hall Hotel. Gretna staff were more than happy to allow us to decorate it with garlands of flowers. We didn’t have much correspondence after booking as everything was well explained. The whole process was simple and easy. We opted for the platinum package and was able to select times for meals and also pick which suite we preferred. The hotel is lovely and the staff were all amazing. As it was just the two of us, Amber came to my room to help me finish dressing as my partner went down to meet the minister and photographer and sort music. Amber walked me down and took photos throughout the ceremony too. The ceremony was just as beautiful as we hoped and planned for and our stay in Gretna will always hold a special place in our hearts

We both had an amazing couple of days at Gretna Green. We stayed at Gretna Hall for two nights and it was perfect. Our wedding was at the famous blacksmiths shop which was beautiful and the staff made us feel so relaxed. Also our photographer Ray was lovely and made our day so special he was very flexible in what we required. We hired a Beaufort from Confetti cars which completed our day off nicely , would recommend to anyone thinking of getting married at Gretna Green.

Myself and my wife eloped due to a complicated family life, we didn’t expect to feel as if family were at our wedding, but that’s what we got! Right from meeting Lisa our planner, to having Jill as one of our witnesses, and not forgetting David and Paul our driver and photographer, they couldn’t have been nicer and we never felt alone which is what we worried about It was the best experience we could have wished for from start to finish!

It was an intimate wedding with a piper, handfasting ceremony, and professional photographer there. We couldn’t have wished for a better, more memorable and deeply personal experience to mark our special day. The evening meal was wonderful, so too was the wedding cake, accommodation, and all of the lovely personal touches we had as part of our experience of being there. We’re so glad that we had exactly the experience we wanted and we wouldn’t have changed a thing about it. The team were so helpful in all of the preparations and were incredibly responsive to requests. Getting married at Gretna Green is an excellent option for people looking for a stress-free experience where they can focus on the enjoyment and marking of the occasion.

From start to finish our wedding was perfect. We stayed at Gretna Hall Hotel in a beautiful room overlooking the gardens. It was just lovely seeing many other weddings there. The food at the hotel was absolutely amazing. We were married in the Blacksmiths shop. Although other people were getting married before us and after us it was so personal and emotional. We had the wedding package so we had a photographer included in the package, the photos could be collected the next day, what an amazing service. The team also organised a bagpiper for us. Overall Gretna Green was everything and more, we absolutely loved it all.

The whole process from booking to the wedding day was smooth and stress free. Communication was excellent and staff helpful and knowledgeable. We stayed in a signature suite in Gretna Hall hotel which was amazing and married in the courtyard ceremony room. Everyone on the day ensured things ran smoothly & we had the most perfect day. A great location, helpful staff and competitive prices… would highly recommend.

We had a fantastic wedding day, just the two of us and our Golden Retriever. The wedding team did everything they could to accommodate our dog. The photographer Paul, Reilly the Piper, Mark the Reverend and Keeley from Smiths Hotel who was our 2nd witness with Reilly made our ceremony personal and the perfect event we’d imagined and hoped it would be.

From arriving to leaving the staff & our host Amber Saxton were amazing, friendly & went above & beyond for us. The suite we stayed in was so clean & tidy. Afternoon was beautiful, followed by a lovely cocktail. 3 course meal was nice also. Raymond Carruthers our photographer was amazing at what he does. Overall so happy with our stay & will recommend to family & friends moving forward.

We wanted our wedding to be just us so we decided to ‘run away’ to Gretna Green. Everything, from our initial enquiry to the day itself, was perfect. The wedding planners and host were professional and helpful at all times so we didn’t have to worry about anything. The ceremony was relaxed and we loved every minute of our day. We’d highly recommend getting married there to anyone thinking about it.

I can not say more than I could not find any fault in our wedding. Everything went to plan…. or better. Lovely people, very professional but not impersonal. If I wasn’t married I’d do it again.

From the moment of booking the Gretna Team were super efficient and informative. Booked our package, to include piper and photographers.

On our big day from the moment we arrived the Gretna Team excelled in completing our Handfasting. It was a truly memorable day and we would so recommend Gretna Weddings.

Everything was perfect and carefully thought of, they even rang me just to ask if I needed help in my dress as they knew we were a very small group. I didn’t need help as my daughters were with me but I thought such a nice detail to think of.

Only one little criticism is that once we were married after our sit down meal the music stopped for a while. It’s only something so minor but if I had to nit pick at something that was it, and it was just unfortunate that their iPad ran out of charge, But it was the perfect way to get married and it felt so special.

The food was delicious and plentiful. We went for the gold package for food. Which was a little extra but again worth it.

We had the most wonderful small wedding at Gretna Hall Hotel, getting married at the Coach House with just 11 of us. Everything was so relaxed and stress free, and the team were always quick to respond to any emails which really helped with planning. The hotel is lovely, the food was incredible, and our two night stay made it even more special. Highly recommend!

For start to finish this was the calmest day everything was taken care of for us, everything was explained clearly, the staff were super friendly and everyone was so helpful and knowledgeable they really put us at ease. Their attention to detail and genuine care made us feel truly looked after from start to finish.

Our ceremony took place in the Gretna Hall Courtyard, which is simply stunning. The setting was romantic, intimate, and full of character — a perfect backdrop for such a special moment. It felt magical and created memories we will treasure forever.

We were also so fortunate to have Minister Sandy conduct our ceremony. Sandy was incredibly kind, down to earth, and approachable, instantly putting us at ease. The ceremony felt personal, heartfelt, and relaxed, which meant so much to us and perfectly reflected who we are as a couple.

Overall, our wedding at Smiths at Gretna Green was flawless.

We wanted a relaxed quiet wedding and that’s just what we had in lovely surroundings. Little things made it very special and the staff were lovely too.

We had the 3 day Christmas package. This included some special touches like a Christmas hamper and champagne in the room which was lovely. We only had one issue with the noise of the room but they did manage to move us to a quieter room. The staff were helpful and helped us with any issues we had.

Lovely day at Gretna for our small intimate wedding. From the start Keeley was fun and friendly. Stewart the registrar, efficient, charming, patient and (a good old Doric word “clothie”) Stewart had an assistant Molly who was equally charming. Perfect from start to finish. From our initial enquiry to our checking out of the hotel, everything was perfect. We could not have wished for anything more. The wedding team were amazing. Meeting Jill the day before our ceremony was great. The afternoon tea was lovely. The day itself was fab. We were piped across to the Carriage House where we met Lynn and Steve and Bill our photographer. Our second witness arrived there too. After chatting lightly, we were piped down the aisle. Beautiful. We had a lovely hand fast ceremony before the vows. So special. After lots of photos, we had a bit of spare time to explore the grounds before enjoying our wedding meal which was delicious.

Our wedding at the Old Blacksmith Shop was lovely. The ceremony room was very rustic just as we wanted albeit a tad cool (but it is winter)! Kelsey was very friendly and made me and my 2 daughters feel very at ease prior to going in to the room. The music / timing was managed absolutely spot on. Our gratitude also goes to Mark Smith who married us, he was lovely and also made us feel at ease with a little appropriate humour ! There are some nice features inside and outside to enhance photographs .

All in all, we are so glad we chose Gretna Green as our wedding ceremony venue. We can’t comment on Smiths Hotel as we stayed in the Lake District. Thank you so very much for a wonderful day.

We had a wonderful couple of days staying at Smiths hotel in The Penthouse.
All staff were fantastic, warm and friendly. Food was good, steak dinner was amazing.
Penthouse was amazing, and very comfortable.

The ladies in the beauty place were spot on and I felt a million dollars. All communication was straight forward, everyone was approachable and everything was explained.
The anvil room was special and the minister, photographer, and the two witnesses provided a warm atmosphere.

The handfasting ceremony afterwards was a lovely touch and added to the whole experience. We are so happy with how it all went, and we wouldn’t change a thing.

Absolutely amazing day from start to finish. Had hair and makeup done in Spoilt hairdressers based in the Smiths Hotel and then over to the Blacksmiths shop to get married where we were greeted by photographer and the bagpiper.

We had the most amazing day, everything went perfectly. The staff, celebrant, piper, handfasting ceremony, and photographer were all incredibly helpful and professional, making the whole experience truly special.

We had our wedding last week in the Coach House at Gretna Hall Hotel, followed by a reception in the Drawing Room. The quality of service from booking our wedding down to assistance on the actual day was just outstanding.

Everyone involved with the ceremony were fabulous, the Vicar, Piper. Photographer and all the staff at the hotel were so thoughtful and kind, everything ran like clockwork. The rooms at the hotel were amazing, all our guests were so happy and the suite we stayed in was just pure luxury. The team at Gretna completely delivered and made our wedding day the best ever. True magic.

Everything went like clockwork. The staff at the hotel were excellent and very polite. The wedding team were impeccable and carried out all requests with ease. This wedding could not have been better. Special shout out to Lyn who involved my grandsons after the ceremony. They will never forget that. Only one small hitch from my family in room 144. They were above the disco the night before our wedding and found it difficult to sleep because of the noise and booming of the disco. No other problems at all. Thank you for a very memorable day.

What an amazing time we had the day we married at Gretna Green Hall Hotel – everything was just PERFECT from he wedding planners who helped us prepare for the BIG DAY who were fantastic and could not do enough for us – even when we adjusted our plans slightly after attending the Gretna Green Open Days this year Everyone from the Receptionist at the Registrars Office, the Gretna Green Hotel staff, our minister, our photographer and our piper were SUPERB We really couldn’t have asked for more…We would like to do it all over again every anniversary; but we have a lifetime of memories to treasure and take forward into our married lives together THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Had the perfect ‘runaway’ wedding day with just us and our two children. Everything was well organised. We were contacted beforehand to make sure we were happy with the details. Amazing from start to finish. We arrived Friday evening and staff were wonderful. I’d booked 10 rooms for 20 guests & they had it all in hand. That evening we had dinner booked and I’d pre-ordered the food and made them aware of allergies and special requirements. They went above and beyond to what I’ve seen before, one of our guest is celiac and they took to cutlery away to wash it to ensure no cross contamination. The food was amazing. I’d also had a good chat with the wedding team and everything was in hand. Breakfast was amazing both morning and again our celiac guest was provided with a full English breakfast delivered directly to her. Again I spoke with the wedding team in the morning and we spoke about how the wedding ceremony will go and they also helped me with my dress and called me when it was time to come to reception to walk over. We had a bagpiper, Reilly, he was amazing too. I’d booked the private room for our bedding breakfast, we had welcomed drinks at 4:30 and evening dinner was offered earlier than booked, just due to us all being ready. I would like to thank the wedding team, inc Jill & Lynne on the day and the reception staff too. Lesley who I was speaking with over email to organise the rooms & food. Reilly for making it special, walking down the isle to him playing the bagpipes. And I can’t forgot Graeme our Minister, he was simply amazing. He made contact a few times before the wedding & he made it so calming throughout the ceremony. The day was faultless & it was all because of the amazing team. Thank you so much. I would 100% recommend Gretna Green. My only niggle & same with our other guests too, pillows were far too hard. There were plenty in the room but they were all hard, so sleep wasn’t the best but other than that, faultless and stress free.

From start to finish our stay in the suite and wedding ceremony was amazing. Everything was amazing. The hotel and service was excellent and the restaurant and food was lovely. Very well thought out to make our stay so special.

We ran away to Gretna to elope and what an experience it was! We’ve been together for 15 years (childhood sweethearts) 5 of those years engaged and we thought this year is the year to finally tie the knot. We wanted a day that was truly special, unique and just about us two… and our fur child to be our witness. The lovely staff at Gretna made that possible, every inch of the day was just perfect, from start to finish. They kept in touch any questions or nerves we had they answered and supported with care. They made us feel comfortable and truly made the day about us. They were kind to take photos and videos where we can look back on our special day forever. They sorted out every inch from the stay, ceremony, minster (Sandy – awesome minster, one of a kind, he should marry everyone! He made us feel comfortable very step of the ceremony.), witnesses, easy simple payments, looked after us, sorted our music and guided us through our day. They also made us feel very seen, heard and especially made fuss of our fur child. They were kind enough to make our day truly special with some beautiful gifts will keep forever. The day was just beautiful and I genuinely can’t say anymore then that. We want to thank the staff who were with us on the day, they were amazing. Looking back at the picture and videos, let us look back on our day time and time again which made it even more special. The venue was very romantic and even though a busy tourist destination and a busy day for weddings it being Valentine’s day we were not rushed, we could take our time and it felt like we were the only people there. They were extremely dog friendly which is great if you’d like your pooch to be with you on the day. We look forward to visiting in years to come. Truly a special and romantic place. Whether your eloping, getting married surrounded by loved ones or renewing your vows it’s truly a special place, you can feel the energy of couples who year after year have declared their love.

What a perfect day!!Everything was just perfect. For a stress free intimate magical day. From thinking about getting married to getting married the communication was brilliant all of the services were excellent nothing is too much trouble. Had the absolute best day. We dealt with Amber and she went above and beyond. All staff were wonderful. Rooms were beautiful, wish I could do it all over again.

We decided to go up early in case there were any problems, etc. However, on Sunday we went to Carlisle Castle, as there were no problems at all, in fact, everything was better than we’d expected, both at The Smiths Hotel and at the Old Blacksmiths Shop where we got married. Smiths and their team made our wedding a truly memorable occasion. I should add that it’s a good idea to go up early, as it gives you more time to chill out and relax.

From the moment we arrived the evening before the big day, we were made to feel welcome and special as we prepared for our wedding. The rooms in the hotel are very comfortable and spacious enough to accommodate the wedding party along with hair and makeup. The whole atmosphere of the place is one of happiness and inclusion. Everyone was there for the same reason, so the mood was very chatty and full of best wishes. The reverend and the photographer included in our package were absolutely brilliant. I really cannot find fault with anything. From the initial booking to leaving the next day, everything was beyond our expectations.

Had a great day, we opted for a simple ceremony, as we’ve been together for 26 years, but we couldn’t have picked a better place to get married, would highly recommend.

Best decision we made was to elope here. Everything and everyone were just as we expected. The room was gorgeous, and we even found the secret. The staff were lovely. The food was good, although breakfast was a little sparse and we often had to wait for certain items to be replenished. The wedding was very well organised, and the staff were extremely welcoming. We wouldn’t change a thing.

We had an amazing three days from start to finish. Thanks to all the staff involved. The privilege of being able to stay at the Bensmoor Suites with our dog, so that he could be a part of our ceremony, made it even more magical. The atmosphere you experience when staying at the cottages just opposite the beautiful venue, surrounded by other couples about to begin their special journeys, only adds to the emotions you feel on your own special day. The service in the Original Marriage Room, surrounded by its history, is a truly unique experience and is the icing on the cake when you stand opposite your partner to declare your love.

We renewed our wedding vows, 31 years married at Gretna on 8/8/2025 in the Blacksmiths. Had a lovely meal at the Smiths Hotel; staff and food were amazing. The day was just perfect from start to finish, and everyone made us feel like it was our wedding day again. We had the piper as well! My husband is Scottish, and our son and grandsons wore kilts, just the best day and would do it all again and again. We will be back every year to celebrate.

Lovely staff and registrar made us feel very comfortable and welcome; nothing was too much trouble. The Famous Blacksmiths Shop is very quaint and quite different from your usual venue.

My partner and I booked our wedding with Gretna Green with a simple phone call, which arranged everything from our stay at Gretna Hall Hotel to the photographer and the ceremony.

Because I am a bit sceptical, I assumed something would go wrong as everything needed to run like clockwork. To our absolute delight, everything did run like clockwork, and that was thanks to everyone we came into contact with, right from the very first phone call.

All the staff were happy and smiling, and nothing was too much trouble for them. The only very slight issue we had was that our room was next to a linen room, which I am guessing staff would have been going in and out of. (At the time of booking, I did request a room away from lifts and service rooms as I wanted our stay to be as quiet as possible.) The allocated room was also very small, and my wife had a make-up artist and hairdresser coming on the morning of the wedding.

We went to reception and spoke to Flo and Roberta (I hope that is how you spell their names). We cannot praise these two lovely ladies enough. They went above and beyond to ensure we were happy and gave us a family room. (Please pass our sincere thanks on to these two lovely ladies, they are a credit to your hotel.)

If you are considering getting married through Gretna, stop considering and do it now! You will not be disappointed.
