Historically known as ‘Graitney Hall’, Gretna Hall and Historic Marriage House is a treasured hotel and wedding venue in Gretna Green. It was built in 1710 as a manor house for the Johnstone family, whose coat of arms still resides in its entranceway. Some decades later it turned into a coaching inn, before developing into a wedding venue of choice in the 1800s for many affluent runaway couples from the nobility.

The Coach House at Gretna Hall
Accommodates up to 40 guests seated and 10 standing.
With its rustic flagstone floor and whitewashed walls, this atmospheric room conjures up images of couples arriving in horse-drawn carriages in days-gone-by. These days, a magnificent 19th century carriage, set behind a legendary Gretna Green anvil, makes a stunning background for photography.
You may choose to enter the room through its historic doors, or enjoy a more traditional ‘walk down the aisle’.

Two Hours’ Exclusive Use of the Courtyard at Gretna Hall
Accommodates up to 60 guests seated and 20 standing.
Choose either the Courtyard Room or the Coach House for your wedding venue, when you opt for exclusive use of the Courtyard at Gretna Hall. When the double doors close, enjoy complete privacy in the evocative cobbled courtyard, with no interruptions or access for other guests for two full hours. Which means plenty of time for your ceremony, all-important photographs and some quality time with guests.

Accommodates up to 60 guests, with 20 standing.
The Courtyard Room is an elegant contemporary venue set on one side of the stable block’s historic courtyard. Candlelit for an extra romantic atmosphere, you may walk down the aisle to the famous anvil with your guests seated on either side.

The Cottage at Gretna Hall
Accommodates up to 8 guests.
The Cottage at Gretna Hall is an ideal venue for smaller parties. Couples marry over the anvil, in front of a beautiful fireplace and floral arrangement, while after the ceremony you may enter your own private garden where photographs can be taken.
