It's time to wave good-bye to January and welcome February with open arms! Whilst it may be the shortest month, it's certainly got its fair share of celebrations of love, romance and happiness!
In fact, the entire month is dedicated to weddings and creative romance! With Valentine's Day just around the corner, it's certainly a fitting time to pull out all the stops when it comes to sweeping that someone special off their feet!
What else happens besides Valentine's Day you ask? We've got National Marriage Week from the 7th to the 14th and then National Flirting Week (oooh! Didn't even know that particular week existed) from the 10th to the 16th! Aww...what a wonderful way to cheer up at this time of the year! (Especially here at Gretna Green where we've seen nothing but rain for weeks.....!)
You can even be part of a Guinness World Record challenge this year! On the 8th of February at 17:15 couples across the UK will have the opportunity to renew their vows celebrating their 'big promise'.
Looking for something unique for your Valentine this year? Come join the tradition of romance here at Gretna Green with one of our Anvil Blessings or spend a romantic evening or weekend away at Smiths Hotel. What could be more romantic than to bring your loved one away from the hustle and bustle of the daily grind to the special place that is Gretna Green??...
We're very excited to welcome the Valentine's Day wedding parties back to Gretna Green and the Famous Blacksmiths Shop! Keep an eye open as we'll be celebrating Flirting Week....wonder what we'll post!
We'd love to hear your favourite stories of romance - both here in Gretna Green and further afield! Share them with us on our Facebook or Twitter! Hope everyone has a good start to the month of romance! Here's wishing you a happy and romance-filled February from all of us here at Gretna Green and Smiths Hotel!
Ps....we even have a little piece of Gretna Green travelling all the way to Sochi....with the Paralympic team taking a few of our Gretna Green cardigans! Looks like February is going to be a good month!
