Cycle-friendly routes to and via Gretna Green Famous Blacksmiths Shop

We've taken a look through some of the best UK cycling route collections and spoken to cyclists who have visited us in the past, to put together a list of some great cycle routes that pass through Gretna Green.
1. Deloitte Ride Across Britain Route
- This route starts and Land's End and travels all the way north to John 'o Groats, through 969 miles of journeying over 9 days (traditionally). The Day 6 stretch from Penrith to Hamilton, at approximately 100 miles and a climb of 2,800ft takes you through some beautiful views of the Lowther Hills and will take you straight through Carlisle and Gretna Green. 3. Route 74
- This historic cycle route starts a couple of kilometres west of Gretna and connects with Route 7 (Carlisle to Gretna). It is 70 miles long, mainly on the road with some free sections and travels north to end Hamilton just south of Glasgow. From here you can take the National Route 75 into the city centre for Glasgow too. See the route 74 journey here
